Vitamin D3 2000 I.U.

Vitamin D3 is an essential vitamin for transporting calcium into bones and other cells that need it for proper functioning. Higher levels of Vitamin D are seen to be needed for proper immune health, especially as we age.

Is Your Vitamin D Too Low?
It's likely if you:
live in the northern climates
hardly get out into the sun
wear sunscreen
have osteopenia or osteoporosis
are overweight
have insulin resistance
are over 50 years old
have fibromyalgia
have lupus (SLE) or rheumatoid arthritis
have achy muscles or joints
had breast or colon cancer
have intestinal malabsorption, like Celiac Disease

We have known medically for a long time that vitamin D is needed for healthy bones. It helps us to absorb calcium from bowels and kidneys. Years ago children commonly suffered from rickets, a type of bone deformity caused by a lack of vitamin D. By adding vitamin D to milk and cereals, these bone conditions disappeared. Now recent research indicates that rickets are just the tip of the vitamin D-deficiency iceberg. In fact, Dr. Michael Holick's 2007 review in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine indicates that vitamin D deficiency is epidemic, commonly showing up in both children and adults. Low vitamin D levels are associated with growth retardation, osteopenia, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, muscle weakness, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, autoimmune diseases (rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus), Crohn's disease, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, multiple sclerosis, depression, schizophrenia, breathing difficulties, like wheezing, infectious diseases, common cancers (including breast, prostate, and colon) and cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attacks, heart failure and strokes. Do you have any of these? Now is the time to recognize if vitamin D deficiency is the cause. More importantly, it's time to fix it and get well. The solution is so simple and inexpensive.

Common causes of Vitamin D-deficiencies include a lack of enough sunlight to our skin, especially for those who normally wear sunscreen or live at higher latitudes where autumn and winter days have limited amounts of sun. Aging or being overweight especially diminishes vitamin D. Intestinal malabsorption conditions limit vitamin D's absorption. The usual RDA amount of vitamin D of 400 IU was determined for correction of childhood rickets but is felt by experts to be inadequate for correction of the other conditions now associated with low vitamin D.
